Nneoma ran to
welcome his uncle and as usual he bought goodies for her. Biscuits,
sweet and her favorite - ice cream. She rushed to show show her mom what
Uncle Ade bought for her. She shared her goodies with her smaller
siblings and rushed back to Uncle Ade room to watch cartoon. Uncle Ade
always put on his Generator when he comes back from office by 5 and
Nneoma uses that opportunity to watch her favorite cartoon.
"Uncle Ade, why didnt you put on your generator" ... Nneoma asked with a sad face
"I dont have fuel Nne, will get it at night"..... Uncle Ade answered
"Okay Uncle, let me go and play with my brothers"
"Nne, he called tenderly, come and sit on my laps, i want to show you something"
Nneoma sat on Uncle Ade laps and suddenly felt his uncle hands on her laps
"Do you know you are beautiful girl" he asked... Nneoma nodded in affirmation
"For a beautiful and obedient girl like you, i am gonna buy you a big plate of ice cream tomorrow".. he said
'Really!!! Nneoma beamed excitedly, are you gonna buy ice-cream for me"
"Yes i will..only if you remain the good girl that you are and don't tell your mom anything"... he smiled at her
"Okay" Nneoma whispered "But what don't you want me to tell mummy"
"This" He said as he lowered his lips on Nneoma's
Nneoma struggled with her breath as Uncle Ade held on tightly to her. He kissed her brutally and pushed his hands down to her privates. Nneoma whimpered, but he held her tightly, shutting her lips with his as his finger found her way to her
vagina where he fumbled and finally found his way into her. He could feel her struggling, but he held on to her tightly and fingered till she stopped struggling.
"Don't cry" he looked at her when he finally released her
"Don't ever tell your mom, you know i promised to buy you a plate of ice-cream" he said
"Come let me clean you up, and if mummy ask you, tell her you fell face down on the floor, be the good girl that you have always been"
"If you ever tell mummy, i will make sure i hurt you and every member of your family" He threatened her
"Now come over here, you will stay here for some hours before going back to your mummy"
He gave her a bottle of bobo drink and watched her fall asleep after some time and placed her on his mattrass.
Nneoma and many other young girls are victims of Rape and Sexual Molestation. Lets speak out against Rape ans Sexual Molestation. These young ones need to be taught sexual education and the differences between various kinds of touches. Do not sweep the incident under the carpet because of the stigmatization associated with it.
What to do if you were raped
1. Get to a safe place as soon as possible.
2. Tell the first person you see that you feel you can trust what has happened to you. This may be difficult for you but it is very important because this person can support your story and back you up in court. If the person is a stranger ask for and keep their name and telephone number and write it down.
3. Do not wash yourself or throw away your clothes no matter how much you want to. There might be hair, blood or semen on your body or clothes that can be used as evidence of the rape if you choose to report the matter to the police.
4. If you were drunk or stoned at the time of the rape don’t let that stop you from reporting the matter or getting medical treatment – being intoxicated is not a crime but rape is.
5. If you are injured go straight to a hospital, community health centre or doctor.
6. If you want to report the matter go to the police station nearest to where the rape took place. Do this as soon as you can or at least within three days so that there is a stronger chance of finding proof of the attack and of catching the suspected rapist. (If you don’t go within this time it is still possible to report the rape within 20 years.) It is often useful to call a friend or family member to go with you and support you to do this. Keep the name and contact number of the police officer in charge of your case and your police case number. You are also entitled to a copy of the statement you make to the police.
7. If you fear retribution or intimidation from the rapist/s make sure the police are aware of this and ask that the rapist/s be not allowed out on bail.
It starts with you. Say NO to RAPE and SEXUAL MOLESTATION
